Workers are holding an Online Public Rally in solidarity with sacked USDAW shop steward and convener, Richie Venton. The rally will take place, via Zoom, on 8 October 2020, from 7pm.

Scheduled speakers include Richie himself, Sarah Woolley (BFAWU General Secretary), Amy Murphy (USDAW National President), Chris Stephens MP, plus a care worker, a railway striker, and others engaged in working class struggle.
IKEA’s victimisation and sacking of USDAW shop steward and convener Richie Venton is outrageous union-busting, in the middle of the pandemic, that cannot be allowed to succeed. Other employers are watching the outcome, as they join the race to the bottom on jobs, wages, sick pay and workplace rights – under cover of the Coronavirus crisis.
The massive wave of solidarity demanding Richie’s reinstatement has thrown up the wider demand for full average wages for all sick workers – the policy he was sacked for demanding. Why should workers have to choose between their health and financial ruin, on £95 Statutory Sick Pay?
Join this Public Rally (via Zoom) to hear those on the front line of struggle speak out. Show your solidarity with Richie, the first shop steward sacked in Scotland over a battle for workers’ safety from Covid-19. Join the campaign to put workers’ lives before profit.
